SYBASE, SUN and BMMsoft BREAK GUINNESS' WORLD RECORD FOR
WORLD'S LARGEST DATA WAREHOUSE
Sybase IQ, Sun Hardware and Software, and BMMsoft Server Manage One Petabyte of Raw Data
Holding Six Trillion Rows of Transactional Data
DUBLIN, Calif. - May 14, 2008 - Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), a leading provider of enterprise
infrastructure, mobile software and mobile services, today announced that the Sybase IQ
analytics server has set a new Guinness World Record' by powering the world's largest
data warehouse on a Sun server. This accomplishment was achieved using Sybase IQ,
BMMsoft Server and the Sun Microsystems Data Warehouse Reference Architecture,
comprised of a Sun SPARC Enterprise M9000 Server, three Sun StorageTek 6540 Arrays and the
Solaris 10 Operating System. This winning combination enables more data to be stored in less
space, searched and analyzed in less time, while consuming 91 percent less energy and generating
less heat and carbon dioxide than conventional solutions.
Powered by the category-leading column-oriented database Sybase IQ, the data warehouse is certified
to support a record-breaking one petabyte of mixed relational and unstructured data-more than 34
times larger than the largest industry standard benchmark and twice the size of the largest commercial
data warehouse known to date. In total, the data warehouse contains six trillion rows of transactional
data and more than 185 million content-searchable documents, such as emails, reports, spreadsheets
and other multimedia objects.
Guinness World Records judge Danny Girton presided over the certificate ceremony in New York to validate
the record and confirm that the achievement met the criteria set forth by the organization. "We applaud
Sybase, Sun and BMMsoft for their entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for the World's Largest Data Warehouse,"
Girton said. "We congratulate everyone involved in this record-breaking achievement."
Designed from the ground up as an analytics server, Sybase IQ produces its impressive results because of a
unique architecture combining a column-oriented data structure with patented indexing and a scalable grid.
Sybase IQ offers extraordinarily high performance at a lower cost than a traditional, row-oriented database.
And, unlike traditional row-based data warehouses, the stored data in Sybase IQ is compressed by up to 70 percent
of its input size, creating the most optimal and elegant analytics solutions.
"The results of this benchmark show that Sybase IQ demonstrated its capability to handle real-world scenarios comparable
to the transactions processed across the worldwide financial trading networks over multiple years," said Francois Raab,
president, InfoSizing, the consulting firm that oversaw the benchmarking of the record. "Sybase IQ has proven its
reliability in handling the volume of multimedia documents representative of the electronic communication between
half a million financial traders."
"This record truly demonstrates Sybase's vision to the future about what kinds of extreme analytics and volumes of
data customers will be facing in the coming years," said Irfan Kahn, vice president and chief technology officer, Sybase.
"Sybase IQ allows users to manage immense data stores and accelerates analytics processing up to 100 times faster
than traditional solutions. It comes as no surprise that combining its power with BMMSoft server and the innovative
Sun server and storage products would deliver an industry-leading, and now record-breaking, energy efficient data warehouse."

September 2007: SOL took part in creating of The World's Largest Certified 1-Petabyte Data Warehouse.
Our partner, BMMsoft, announced the publishing of an independent study by InfoSizing (www.sizing.com)
certifying the BMMsoft ServerSM application, Sybase IQ analytics server, Sun SPARC Enterprise M9000
server running the Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) and Sun StorageTekTM 6540 arrays, as the World's
Largest Data Warehouse at Sun's Enterprise Technology Center (ETC) in Menlo Park
The certification involved loading fully-indexed transactions, full-text searchable
emails and documents in a Data Warehouse solution at the rate of 250 Billion
transactions, 150 Million documents and 50 Million emails per day. The daily total
was an impressive 30 TB of data.
Due to the combined storage efficiency of the BMMSoft Server platform and the Sybase IQ analytics server,
the test required only ~250TB of high-density disk storage or an 85% reduction in storage size, cost and power.
Compare this result to conventional solutions that require over 1.5 PB of fast storage for similar performance.
A 90% reduction in power usage represents an equal reduction in CO2 pollution and equates to over 30 Million pounds
of CO2 saved over a 3-year life span of the system.
The BMMsoft Server application and the Sybase IQ analytics server, with a combination of 6 trillion trading transactions,
emails and documents show real-time performance with sub-second responses to standard queries ("pin-point" crosssearch of emails
and transactions) and sub-5-second responses for complicated realtime analysis. Even very sophisticated trend-detection queries
took only 45 seconds to finish. New emails and documents are ready for analysis in less than 3 seconds after arrival.
The combination of real-time updates and instant query responses are critical for high transaction volume businesses of all types.
How much more effective would your company be if you could access all the data within your organization? BMMsoft Server unlocks the 80%
of corporate information that is hidden in unstructured data. With BMMsoft Server, you are able to cross correlate the information stored
in the emails and documents with your transaction data. The BMMsoft Server software provides the ability to manage both structured and
unstructured data within one database, enabling incremental business intelligence in the areas of CRM, eDiscovery, fraud or compliance
never before possible.
"BMMsoft platform, together with Sybase IQ's column-oriented analytics server architecture, Sun servers with the Solaris
10 OS, and Sun storage, offer a flexible and highly-scalable environment for enterprise analysis and use of both structured and unstructured data,"
said Anne MacFarland, Director of Data Strategies and Information Solutions at The Clipper Group, Inc. "The synergies between the components,
and the comprehensive capabilities of the BMMsoft Server front end, provide a solution targeted at business intelligence that is more than the sum
of its parts."
SOL took an active part in this certification by giving support and monitoring throughout the process. We are proud to be a part of this
achievement, because this is the breakthrough in the area of data warehousing. It took immense efforts of our team, but being a part of such
an important event has the inestimable significance.
You can read more about this event at BMMsoft's website (www.BMMsoft.com) and get a more complex insight into this fantastic result.
July 2007: SOL's Partnership with BMMSoft, USA
SOL has become the Gold Level Reseller Partner for BMMsoft from San Francisco, California, USA.
This is a great opportunity for SOL, because of the BMMsoft recently release
a new version of their product BMMsoft ServerSM.

corporations can better understand themselves, their customers, their competitions, and their environment.
BMMsoft ServerSM captures and stores structured data (i.e. SQL transactions)
and unstructured data such as documents, emails, faxes, voicemails, video and more,
for data protection, indexing, auto-classification, and cross-correlation analysis.
This ability allows a company to make better, faster, more informed decisions.
Additionally, BMMsoft Server doubles as a file system backup and hot-standby for the data, creating a "live archive".
SOL is very familiar with the BMMsoft Server product,
and recommends it as the perfect tool for any company,
with all the features necessary for improving business' operations.
